Ladies and Gentlemen, it is our pleasure to announce a new, elite fundraising club: The Bike MS Silver Stars.
You can become a member of the Bike MS Silver Stars by raising $1,000 or more for this year’s ride. These great fundraisers will receive recognition on the website, a Silver Star Luggage Tag and — perhaps most importantly — be recognized on Day 2 of the 2011 ride with a Priority Start!
Visit our website to learn more and to view the names of the 2009 Bike MS Silver Stars.
We couldn’t be more excited about this weekend’s ride. The weather is going to be perfect, erasing memories of the flood of 2009.
The past several months you’ve fine-tuned your body as well as your bike at one of our Official Bike Stores. You’ve also lobbied your friends, family and coworkers to help you meet and exceed your fundraising goals. With these awesome accomplishments you can have peace of mind knowing that your efforts will go toward helping thousands of Texans living with multiple sclerosis. As a reward for your hard work you can also choose from several great Fundraising Prizes if you have raised more than $500 for the National MS Society.
We can’t wait to see everyone at the Expo Friday and at the ride this weekend!
Bike MS: Valero Club 100 members and team captains had a blast at the Inaugural Orange Ball, held Friday, Sept. 17 at Klusoz Martini & Tapas Bar.
The goal was to “out orange” National MS Society VP Tony Ralf. Velo Valero Team Captain Andrea Shull took home the 1st prize trophy.
Special thanks to Klusoz Martini & Tapas Bar for hosting our event. Click on any image to enlarge.
Joining, training and riding with a team is one of the great joys of participating in the Bike MS: Valero Ride. Team captains do a great job of organizing training rides and motivating team members to raise money for the the team’s fundraising total.
Friendly competition between teams has always been a lot of fun. One of the ways we like to reward the top 10 fundraising teams is to give them “top billing” at the Start Line and allow them to line up at the front of the pack, directly behind team Velo Valero. Is your team in the Top 10? If not, there’s still time! Who’s going to break into this group?
1. AT&T Spinners – $42,587.80
2. Third Street Grackles -$22,977.00
3. HOLT CAT – $20,028.50
4. Shaw Systems Cycling Team (formerly Pappas Posse) – $16,833.50

Here’s a sneak peek at an ad that will run in this Sunday’s Express-News. The ad recognizes the 5 current top fundraising teams.
Last Wednesday, Sept. 8, Team Miracles in Motion partnered with Pappasito’s to hold a raffle for a Specialized bike that was donated to the team. The raffle was a huge success. Great idea, Miracles in Motion! Pictured in the photo are, left to right, Ingrid McConnell of Team Miracle in Motion; Lisa Shaw, National MS Society staff; Chris Stewart, Team Miracles in Motion; and Lloyd Hensley, Society staff.
Want to buy a raffle ticket? Team Miracles in Motion will be at Stoneworks Thursday!
Jeff Vaughn, KENS5 anchor and Bike MS Valero Ambassador, left, accepts a tip from National MS Society Vice President Tony Ralf. Jeff waited tables at Dave & Buster's Thursday and all the tips he received were donated to the Society. Thanks, Jeff!
